Dr. Kevin Czajkowski
Use of Thermal Infrared Satellite Data in Climate Change
 Dr. Kevin Czajkowski received a three-year grant from NASA through its New Investigator program to validate satellite measurements of surface temperature changes. Another component of the project is education outreach to elementary and secondary schools with an emphasis on global warming, satellites, and atmospheric conditions. NASA's New Investigator program is aimed at scientists in the first five years of their professional academic careers. Kevin is the Prinicipal Investigator and mentor to the research performed by our UTView program.
Dr. David "Jim" Nemeth
 "Professor Nemeth's research interests have gradually shifted over the years toward philosophical and methodological issues in geography. His current research topics include case studies and elaborations on "critical relativism" and "extreme geography." Related to these, he has two book projects underway, tentatively titled "Safe Zones" and "Routes 666." He also continues to explore a concept called "enlightened underdevelopment" (EU) which he coined and promotes as an alternative to the deceptive concept of "sustainable economic growth."  His EU research focuses mainly Asia and Korea, and he is a member of the UCLA-based "Critical Geographies of Korea" Project. He also continues his Gypsy studies research and teaching on many fronts, and is conducting local field work and archival projects with his students. He is organizing a presentation session on the topic of "Gypsies and Gypsy Studies in North America" for the 2003 meeting of the Gypsy Lore Society in Ann Arbor, MI."

Dr. Patrick Lawrence
 Dr. Patrick Lawrence has recently helped The University of Toledo rediscover Gard Island, a small island in the Upper Maumee Bay of Lake Erie. His work has led to the Island becoming part of the Detroit International Wildlife Refuge, an area stretching from the Detroit River along Lake Erie's western shoreline to the Michigan-Ohio border. He is also working with the Maumee RAP to study the water quality of the Maumee River Basin in Ohio.

Dr. Neil Reid
 Dr. Neil Reid is collaborating with the Urban Affairs Center on a project dealing with Flexible Manufacturing Networks. The project is geared towards encouraging small inner city manufacturers to come together to develop new products and customers, upgrade and increase their workforce, and become more competitive in the global marketplace.

Dr. Peter Lindquist
 Dr. Peter Lindquist researches new applications for GIS in location-allocation modeling, and transportation planning. His research in location-allocation has been used to plan the locations of fire stations in Sylvania Township. He has also worked with the Intermodal Transportation Institute to study the Upper Midwest Freight Corridor.
He has also worked with graduate students Samir Dhar and Guy Schafer to create AirView: An International Air Freight Resource for Economic Development (pdf).
